Is flare a lens defect? I don't think so. My Pentacon 135mm f/2.8[1], with which I shot this, has plenty of it if you try. I think it makes this shot.

I was up to my ankles in silt to take this picture. The things I do for you, honestly.

[1] Yup, I point telephotos into the sun, because I'm cool like that. Don't try this at home, kids.
